We are pleased to announce our speaker will be Jared Cohen, President & CEO of Parkinson Foundation of the National Capitol Area. PFNCA was recently selected as “One of the best small charities in the Greater Washington region.”

Our support group is one of 45 community groups who receive direct support from PFNCA. Their mission is, “to focus on improving the quality of life of those who are impacted by Parkinson’s disease, their care partners and families and foster a sense of community, to ensure no one battles this disease alone.”
PFNCA offers exercise, communication and education programs, to strengthen the physical and emotional health of people impacted by Parkinson’s.

Many in our group benefit from taking exercise classes sponsored by PFNCA  and attend the symposiums and community lecture series, where we have the opportunity to listen to prominent Practitioners and Researchers give up to date information on Parkinson’s Disease and treatments available. There are other events during the year where we can both participate and help raise funds to support these programs, as example the  “Walk Off Parkinson’s ” event, which was held at National’s Park this past September. Our team, led by Sandy Myles, had fun and met our goal.

So, come and meet Jared Cohen and learn more about PFNCA. I believe there will be time for questions after Jared’s presentation and I suggest you write questions on an index card or small note card. You can also find a link to the Quarterly PFNCA  Newsletter on our web site. There are many good articles, written by members of the Medical Advisory Board, who donate their time, to assure we receive accurate and up to date information, plus news and details of upcoming events, like the Holiday Party planned for December 10th.

We  hope to see you at our November meeting.
