Dance Class and Support Group Information

Hello Fair Oaks Folks!

We had a great response to the Dance for PD Class @ George Mason University, on Saturday Feb.25th. We have 18 people attending, and can look forward to an exciting and fun afternoon. I understand the class is now full, but there is a wait list in case of cancellations. Below is specific information about time and place, parking, etc.

We will also have a regular support group meeting at the Sun Rise on Sat Feb 25th, for those not going to the Dance for PD event. Sonia Gow graciously offered to lead the meeting, as Donna will be at George Mason that morning. Sonia always has helpful information to share and keeps us moving. Many thanks to Sonia for all she does for our PD community.

We will come back together on March 25th, for a presentation by Karl and Angela Robb. His second book, Dealing and Healing with Parkinson’s Disease and Other Health Conditions, was released in Nov. 2016. It is a wonderful workbook, full of exercises to motivate and encourage us to live well with PD. Angela and Karl have been active advocates for the PD community for over 30 years and have much to share with us.

Dance for PD @ George Mason Information

►Time and location: 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, February 25 in Studio 3009 of the de Laski Performing Arts Building, George Mason University, 4400 University Dr., Fairfax, VA. The actual address of the Performing Arts Building on campus is 4375 Mason Pond Drive. Consider giving yourself some extra time to park and get to the building. The Performing Arts Building is building 14 on the campus map.

►Directions:For directions to the campus, please click here. For a campus map, please click here. Once on campus, you should follow directions to the Performing Arts Building (building 14 on the campus map). (If the clicks don’t work, try the George Mason University website.)

Drop-offs: If you are dropping someone off, the best option is to turn down Aquia Creek lane and drop off at the Circle. This will put you directly in front of the Performing Arts Building and on the correct floor. You’ll see a sign for the School of Dance when you enter the building.

Parking: Parking is available in the Mason Pond Parking Deck, adjacent to the Center for the Arts. You should park on the side closest to the Performing Arts Building. There is an elevator that will take you to the 3rd floor. From there, you can enter the Performing Arts Building from the circle. Signage for the studio will be posted at the front entrance of the Performing Arts Building.

►Inclement weather? We will make a determination based on weather and road conditions no later than 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 25 and will contact you by email and/or phone only if class is canceled. If you don’t hear from us, class will proceed according to plan. Class cancellation will also be posted on the home page of the Dance for PD website. Those who are part of the group registration won’t be directly contacted; Donna will be contacted.

►Need to cancel? We understand that things come up and you may need to cancel your registration. If you need to cancel, please take a moment to call us at 1-800-957-1046 ext. 1 and leave a message so that we can invite a waitlisted participant to join us.
