While there is no evidence that Parkinson’s Disease presents differently in men than women, it can be harder to feel comfortable addressing particular concerns in predominantly male support groups. Explaining the disease to young children, letting go of family responsibilities, handling the shifting sense of increasing dependence and sexuality, are just a few issues that can be discussed more comfortably in an all-female group. Providing that environment is the purpose of our group and this site is a cooperative effort by and for the women of the Fair Oak Parkinson’s support group. Permanent schedule and location is just firming up; both will be set soon.
